‘Rogue One,’ the 2016 American space epic, pre-opened to a Thursday box office record of $29 million and as of Friday had grossed $ 71.1 million in the United States and Canada alone, with a global collection of $104.1 million.
It could well be on its way to a $150 million weekend box office bonanza in the North American territories, and worldwide ‘Rogue One’ is expected to gross anywhere between $280 and $350 million – not as big a weekend opening as ‘The Force Awakens’ but not too far behind either.
The Disney-Lucas combination ‘Rogue One’ is the first standalone story of the Star Wars saga and is expected to be merged into its mainstay saga films for years ahead.
